There is just one problem. The machine has no idea what it is talking about.

Before You Publish Another AI-Written Listing, Ask These 7 Questions

  1. Which exact source supports every factual claim in this description?

  2. Did the AI add any feature, benefit, or compatibility statement that does not exist in the source data?

  3. Are fitment references tied to validated ACES logic, or just generalized from similar parts?

  4. Would engineering, warranty, legal, or customer support sign their name next to this wording?

  5. If the customer installed the part based on this description, what could go wrong?

  6. Does this wording create an implied promise about performance, materials, or included contents?

  7. If this sentence appeared in a claim file six months from now, would you be comfortable defending it?

If the answer to any of those is no, it should not go live.

The Catalog You Publish Is the Catalog You Own

AI will not slow down, and the pressure to scale content faster will not go away. The companies that win will be the ones who use it inside a governed workflow, not the ones who generated the most listings.

So here is what to do this week. Pull ten AI-generated descriptions from your live catalog and ask one question: can I trace every factual claim back to a validated source, a confirmed PIES attribute, or approved ACES fitment logic? If you cannot, you have a governance problem that is already live and already in front of customers.

Audit your source data. Lock down what AI is allowed to say. Require human sign-off before anything publishes. And if your PIES attributes are incomplete or your ACES coverage has gaps, fix that first, because AI will not fill those gaps accurately. It will just fill them confidently.

The catalog that wins is not the longest one. It is the one you can defend.
